Maryland Bound, eBikes and our thoughts on Harvest Hosts

Maryland Bound,  eBikes and our thoughts on Harvest Hosts

Hi All!  First of all, let me thank each and everyone of you for the love and support you showed my family and I during my Mom's illness and passing.  You filled our hearts!  Thank you so much!

After returning to Indiana, Brian and I eagerly hit the road in search of BEACH 🏖 time.  August was a bit of a stressful month and we knew the beach would be the answer to soothe our souls and fill our cups.  First stop - Maryland to see our oldest son, Eric.  You know him - recent ASU graduate and all!

But first, our Lectric XP eBikes FINALLY arrived after a much anticipated wait of two months.  We unboxed, set up and rode those bikes the very day they arrived and made a video of it.  You may have seen it? If you're interested, here's the video link:  Well, as luck would have it, our route to Maryland took us right past the Great Allegheny Passage trail and we HAD to stop.  Soooooo glad we did…

At HOME in Indiana and a GIFT from my MOM

At HOME in Indiana and a GIFT from my MOM

After the treacherous storms and "excitement"of tornado warnings in SD, MN and IA, we finally arrived back in Brian's home state of Indiana.  Our plans were to spend a couple weeks (lot docking) on family's land while we attended a family reunion and got reacquainted with the area we used to live in some years back  While the weather was on the warmer side with a bit of humidity, we still enjoyed getting outside and taking our segways to discover local trails and parks.  We didn't know what to expect or what we'd find, but the effort was totally worth it when we discovered covered bridges, rustic/restored parks, waterfalls, corn fields, suspension bridges, tow paths, canals and "fairy gardens" (Shawnna's term).

In two afternoons, we discovered more in this small town of Delphi than we ever saw during the two years we actually LIVED in Indiana.  We'll attribute this to having the gift of time and the…
Hey, I thought WE were chasing the weather? Not the other way around!

Well, I do apologize for taking so long to update this blog.  Looking back at our last story, so much has happened and changed since our first month on the road.  Can you believe (we can't), that we've been on the road for almost 3 months??? What??  Like they say... we now have proof that... time flies when you're having fun!  Literally!  Half the time we don't know what day of the week it is or the date.  Thank goodness for iPhones or we'd be lost.  Truly!

Brian and I have now traversed several states since our last blog.  We left New Mexico, spent a week in Colorado, a little time passing through Nebraska and almost a month in South Dakota.  We'd planned only 2 weeks in SD to get our domicile completed, but ended up falling in love!  More on that later!

Our plan had always been to follow the weather.  Stay out of the heat,  tornados and hurricanes and chase the 70's and 80's.  Since…
Top Billing on the "The List" TV Show - Ditching the Office for an RV!

Mike Dunn, Producer of the Emmy-award winning TV Show "The List", did a fine job interviewing Brian and I on our decision to trade it all for a life on the road.  We set up a makeshift TV studio in our rig and met with Mike while we were in New Mexico.  The show did a wonderful job of telling our story and keeping it lighthearted.  @thelistshowtv  Youtube link below!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!  1 Month of Full Time RVing!  Arizona, New Mexico and TV Show Interview - Oh My!!

Thank you to Main Street RV (Apache Junction, AZ) for getting Lyf Uninterrupted back on the road again!  They did a phenomenal job of getting our rig done quickly when others told us 1-2 weeks!  Pete and family - you are wonderful!

Once we were back on the road, we landed on the Mogollon Rim to soak up the pine tree smells and cool breezes.  We stayed on national forest service land which meant the price per night was FREE!!  We had an awesome campsite and soon found out we were staying on a celebrity site!  Stay tuned to Youtube for the video on where we stayed.  Hint, we put out the whiskey for his men and beer for his horses (wink).

The Mogollon Rim never disappoints.  We had temps in the low to mid 70's and practically the whole campsite area to ourselves for 5 days.  We were tucked in behind a group of trees and could barely hear our closest neighbor.  On Saturday, we visited…
We Return from Mexico & Experience Our First Challenge On the Road - Actually 3!

The last week spent in Rocky Point was excellent!  We managed to record a tour of our motorhome - Winnebago Sightseer 34M - upload it and get it posted along with a video about Puerto Penasco and Brian's Battle Born Install Update.  Success!  This new lifestyle has definitely tested our resourcefulness so we feel pretty good having gotten it done - and we learned a LOT along the way. As mentioned before, the upload speeds where we were located in Mexico were abysmal.  What we had to do was send to a dropbox and our oldest son uploaded and processed on YouTube.  Thank you Eric for bailing out Mom & Dad!  (wink!)

Our First Week as Full Timer's in Mexico!

It's so hard to believe that we've been full timer's (on the road) for a week!  What a wonderful week it's been.  Already we're adapting to "slowing down" and taking notice of things around us.  The birds, the wind, the smell of things.  Aaaah, the smell of the ocean!  One of our favorites!

We pulled into the RV park in Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) and noticed how empty it seemed to be for May.  Usually one of the peak months.  I wonder why??  An ocean front space stayed open for a couple of days so we inquired at the office and voila!  we have an ocean front space for the rest of the time we're here.  We're LOVING it.

Our mornings consist of making coffee/tea and then a walk on the beach with the dogs.  They're finally getting used to living in their new home, by the way.  It's such fun to watch Rikki chase after seaweed in the water and watch the little waves as they crash over the top of …
Launch Day & What Happened in Mexico?!

Finally, finally!  On May 9th, we finally took off and headed out of AZ on our new adventure!  First stop was the Fox 10 News Studio for a quick send off from the News Team of Troy Hayden, Celeste Rodriguez and Ron Hoon.

What an interesting experience being on live TV and having everyone in our "home" no less.  The news story played in the morning and again that evening.  Here's a link in case you missed it.

After our stop at the studio, we headed for Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) Mexico.  After crossing through the border, we go an unexpected visit from the Mexican military.  They asked to search our home!  In all my years of traveling to Mexico (since I was 5, so that's a lot of years), I've never experienced this type of in-depth search.  They literally went through every drawer, cupboard, medicine cabinet, purse, bag, backpack…
Sharing our Journey With Others!  ABC15 News Feature

We are blown away by the number of Full Time RV'ers who reached out to us as a result of this recent news feature on ABC15 including the number who are in or from AZ.  Such an awesome community to be a part of!

The American Dream on Wheels

Eric Graduates and We Prepare to Launch our Journey!

First things first.... Our oldest son, Eric, graduated from Arizona State University last night.  We are so proud of him.  Not only did he graduate, he did it with honors! Both of our boys achieved major milestones in 2019.  One got married, the other graduated from college.  Brian and I have been strutting around with pride, like peacocks, for the last couple of months.  Way to go Eric and Michael, you make your Mom and Dad very proud!

It's been almost one week since we officially moved in to the RV (her name's Freeda). It's been challenging trying to find stuff and quite often we have things falling out of the cupboards and closets.  We definitely don't have a routine yet and we're constantly rearranging shelves, drawers, pillows, vacuum cleaners, etc.  I'm glad we have this one week of downtime to get situated before we head out.

While Brian and I are learning to live in this smaller space, so are our two…
